Mohair

More Wool

The first batt blended, I love this cloud grey color it's the kind of color you see here on the prairie in late October into early December as the cold fronts slowly make their way here.

My first batt with this colorway. Greyish blues and greens with hints of lavender and sage.

I forget what this critter was, it was a sheep - maybe columbia I don't know I've had the wool on hand for close to ten years now. The staple was still of excellent quality and the luster - well yum! So I'm blending it with mohair and silk bombyx on my drum carder for art batts.

New Wool and Silk Batts

I posted some new batts to my etsy.com store tonight, here's a group photo that turned out quite nice. I didn't get far I have morels on the brain again!!! I have a lot of blues, reds, and yellows with green, not sure why they didn't get photographed tonight - but there is always tomorrow!

I hand dyed the fibers myself, the batts are a blend of merino, lincoln locks, some romney, silk bombyx, and angelina fibers. These will be wonderful for spinning or needle felting.

I have an progress felted piece called Moss on my art blog, I needlefelted it with the Janome Expression and am now hand stitching the surface.

New dyed fibers

Here's a hat Regina Rooks (you can see her blog here http://rgrdesigns.blogspot.com/) made for me, from hand-dyed wool yarn I purchased seveeral years ago. It'd be perfect for a small childs head.

I've been dyeing fibers and making batts for the shop. Most of these are blends of silk bombyx sliver, Austrailian wool, and mohair. Some of the batts have angelina in them. Some are really pretty, I don't have a picture of them will do that tomorrow, pinks and greens, yellows and greens. Using the drum carder makes my back ache.
