Current studio projects includes the Field Notes, and the Earth and Sky Series!
Field Notes comprises thirty-six 6 x 6 inch pieces that depict land management in the Prairie and Plains states of the Central US, and six 16x16 inch pieces to complete the grid.
The each 6x6 piece represents a section, and the thirty-six pieces represents a township.
The first section, of the grid, starts in the upper right hand corner with the sixth section ending in the upper left hand corner. The second row starts with the seventh section directly beneath the sixth section. This repeats, ending with the thirty-sixth section in the lower right hand corner.
I used earth pigments, ochres, clays, some harvested from fields and streams in here in Iowa, along with charcoal, conte, pastels, and graphite to create the art cloth.
Each piece was then machine stitched and then mounted to a 6x6 inch gallery frame with gallery hanging system attached to the back of each work.
