Studio Dust
Dust everywhere, especially on places that are not easy to dust, like my thread racks. So now I really need to come up with a way to put these thread racks behind doors so they don't get nasty. I have jammer boxes for a lot of my thread, but I have to admit it works better for me when I can just look at the threads on the wall, and they are organized by colorways.
The Weather Report
I was listening to NPR this morning and WOW. It would appear that the weather got really wild and wicked this past in Nebraska and South Dakota. There are thousands w/o power right now due to the power lines being broken off, estimates are that power won't be back on, in many places, until the end of December. Right now it's something like 6 below zero, which can be typical for this time of year. I really hope that these people have alternative sources of heat, if not then hopefully they have shelters to go to.
A book I plan to pick up and read is called The Childrens Blizzard, it's an account of a blizzard that happened in the 1850's that killed over 500 children in one afternoon because they were caught (walking home after school with no coats or shoes) in a temperature variant in January.

Freedom No More. Copyright 2005. K. Baxter Packwood. My latest stitiching project. Since I took the photographs, did the manipulating in Photo Shop, and did the stitching myself I do believe I'm entiteld to the copyright. And while one might state that doing a photo overlay is pretty common I still own the rights to the photos and the art. Phhhhhhhttttttttttttttttt.
What is Copyrightable?
This is in response to some postings left on my blog by anonymous
Fine fine fine, there's nothing new under the sun so I guess this means I'm free to copy others work now as well. As most of it is what I would definately consider public domain, yet others will defend it to the death that it's theirs. Since I'm not finished with the piece, as I'm sure this is considered public domain as well, can one really say that the quilting stitch is really public or not? I've never seen the pattern in a book, I've only been using it in my designs for a long time now.
It's just a major peeve of mine when the Me Too Me Too band that sees something and wow all of a sudden now they have to put it in their work, not matter how much it looks like crap!!! It's like no one has an original thought in their head, they see someone elses work and can't even be bothered with changing it and making it their own. Ahhhhhh I'm starting to sound like a bitchy artist again, I knew she was still alive and well.
I think I need more chocolate!

Quilting
In case your viewing my quilt, that's in progress, and get a wild hair to copy my quilting pattern and then use it as your own, DON'T. That would be considered copyright infringement. This is my own personal pattern design that I have been using for the better part of 10 years now. I have several others I use that are exclusively my own as well.
WIP or UFO's

One of hte perks of hanging onto a piece forever is that eventually some day it'll come to you as to what that piece wants to be when it grows up. For instance this lovely WIP has been hanging around for some ten or more years now. It started as a college class project that I never had the time or materials to finish. Well that's going to change now, I'll be finishing it here real quick like.
But I think this other piece may need to percolate for awhile. I think the problem is is I made it too big, probably if I were to hack it up into much smaller pieces, with my rotary cutter, it'd probably let me know what it wants to be. Maybe it wants to be a book and not one large piece.
Hair
I had my hair cut today, as a perk I had Andrea curl my hair, it's really cute. My hair is getting pretty long, it hangs down the middle of my back now. It'd been over a year since I had had it cut. The last person who cut it cut off three inches, when I specified only one inch. Andrea took off a little over an inch but it's still really long, I needed the dead ends cut off anyway. Too bad it's such a hassle to curl my hair as I'd do it and more often but I just can never seem to get the back evenly curled, as in all of the hair on the back.
Today has been one of those days, where I'm one person screaming at me away from moving to the bowels of Alaska. Salmon and Seal fat sound really appealing right now, there's Baffin Island too and hey lots of lichens to do reasearch on.
My webstore is a nightmare. Actaully my current webhosts are a nightmare. So I'm changing hosts and am in the process of building a new webstore. I bought my own shopping cart this time, with my very own security certificate. Needless to say I had not planned to do this kind of work at this point in my life, yet here I am rebuilding the store. John's comment to me was "look at how fast you will become at building your own store". You know it's not like attempting to set a land record, this was not one of those things I wanted to become good at, ever.
Meanwhile my kitchen looks like a garbage dump exploded in there.

Art Work and Art Cloth
I have several peices I need to finish for a craft show this weekend. The craft show is at the Prairie Flowers School, it's a Waldorf School, here in Ames, Iowa. I will have my hand dyed fabrics, some ribbons, silks, and art quilts available for purchase.
Ebaying
More Stitching
This is where I have to say now it definately needs to be pushed further. I have several hundred french knots to add now.
Pouch
In Progress; one pouch. This is "Green Tomato Pouch".
I have more stitching to do to the surface, I'll put some tiny beads on the stitching once that part is done. Then the internal element still needs to be created.
Advice - do your stitching and beading FIRST, then put it together and bead a fringe onto the pouch, it's much much easier that way! Also don't try to amputate the end of your middle finger, this is the finger I use for pushing the needle through the surface, while washing dishes. It seriously cuts into your stitching time , while your waiting for said appendage to heal ;-)
